But do we really need to leave a legacy? According to the Population Reference Bureau, 117 billion members of our species have been born on Earth since the beginning of time. How many of these do you actually remember?
In order to create a powerful legacy, you first need to decide what contribution you want to make to this world. Just imagine that you are attending your own funeral. What would you want your family and friends to say about you and how you lived your life?
Growing older is a natural part of life’s journey, yet for many, it comes with a sense of loneliness. When we were kids, teenagers, and young adults, we often determined our self-worth by the number of friends we had in our circle. As we begin to get older, we may prefer having fewer, but closer friends with more meaningful connections sharing the same hobbies, philosophies, and likes.
There are close to 10,000 senior centers scattered throughout the USA, serving 1 million people each day. Senior centers can provide transportation services, employment assistance, volunteer opportunities, and fun group events like bridge and arts & crafts.
Since the beginning of America, we have been a very giving people. Starting with the Pilgrims in 1630, neighbors relied on each other to survive the harsh winters. The settlers raised each other’s barns, hosted quilting bees for the community, and built common areas in their towns.
More than 200 years ago, Ben Franklin felt that the average citizen must share in a commitment to the greater good of their community and their country.
According to The Washington Post, our teacher shortage has grown 35% in the 37 states they monitor to over 49,000 vacancies. For example, Arizona has 2,890 openings, more than 1,000 from the previous year.
We all know that teaching is much more than spelling tests, geography quizzes, and learning formulas. Students are influenced by teachers for their broader guidance and ability to improve a kid’s confidence during this formative time of their lives. 83% of students say a teacher had boosted their confidence and self-esteem.
RETIRED- NOW WHAT?
According to the United States Census, 1 in 6 people in the United States are 65 and older. That compares to 1 in 20, a hundred years ago back in 1920. Social Security benefits are received by 48.6 million Americans. 10,000 Baby Boomers are turning 65 each day.
Retirement is not merely a matter of financial preparation, but also an emotional and psychological journey. The challenges we face are not only adjusting to a new routine but dealing with the feelings of purposelessness, how to overcome boredom and restlessness, and managing potential financial constraints.
WHY DO KIDS STRUGGLE IN SCHOOL? UNDERSTANDING THE CHALLENGES AND FINDING SOLUTIONS
As parents and educators, we often find ourselves wondering, “Why do kids struggle in school?” This question has been a topic of concern and discussion for generations. Every child is unique, and their struggles in the academic environment can stem from various factors. But a factor that has affected most kids today is the untimely pandemic that kept them out of school.
Children may face various challenges that lead to struggles in school. Understanding the reasons behind these difficulties is the first step towards providing the necessary support and interventions.
WHY ARE KIDS READING LESS?
According to UNICEF (United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund), only a third of 10-year-olds globally are able to read and understand a simple written story, which means that 64% are unable to cover the minimum proficiency in reading comprehension. This is up from 52% pre-pandemic.
Obviously not going to school during the pandemic interfered with the student’s reading fluency which is fundamental for academic development because the reading you learn in second and third grade is crucial as students read to learn about other subjects as they make their way into later grades.
Reading plays a vital role in a child’s overall development. It enhances vocabulary, improves critical thinking skills, sparks creativity, and fosters empathy.
WHY DIVORCE IS SO HARD ON KIDS
From 1900-1930, the divorce rate in the USA was 1.1 out of 1,000 Americans. In the 1970’s it was 4, while in the 1980’s it was 5. Baby Boomers became the most divorced generation in USA history. Luckily today in 2022, the rate has dropped to 2.3 per 1,000 Americans. Perhaps the Baby Boomers’ children did learn from the mistakes of their parents. But the impact on all of our kids is the same, no matter what generation experienced divorce in their family.
Divorce is a difficult and emotional process for everyone involved, especially for children. When parents decide to end their marriage, it can have a significant impact on their children’s well-being and development.

In today’s world of instant information, uncertainty, cruelty, and differences in ideas, what is the true role of parents? Obviously, parents provide their children with food, clothing, and a place to live. They also are to provide financial support, medical care, and the opportunity to receive an education. And they are to protect their children from harm and provide them with a safe environment that includes supervision and control of any situation.
“So, the real question becomes, in today’s hectic world, how can a parent juggle everything to even come close to instilling these traits into this newest generation? Is it even possible to raise a “normal” kid with everything going on in this country and the world?”
TOO MANY GRANDPARENTS JUST DON’T CARE
We may want to rush to judgement and say “what is wrong with our baby boomer generation” that they are not involved in wanting to raise this next greatest generation. But many of these broken relationships may not be caused entirely by the grandparents.

I Don’t Want to Turn 3 is a such a fun book, I read through it twice by myself before reading it to my young nieces. I laughed at the “brat” named Jordan, who spends the book learning the author’s version of the Golden Rule. He learns that he is no longer a baby and has to treat others well. I’ll read it again to my nieces and again to myself and we’ll all learn one of life’s most important lessons. The illustrations are darling and ready for any one-year-old to point at.

He has many relatives around his age and he starts collecting their favorite toys that he hides...
I love that I can actually see and enlarge the words on the pages and can be enlarged.
When the toys are all found the dad steps in and I love how this ends. Love charity and helping others less fortunate.
The kids will now grow up and continue this practice themselves and teach their children the same things.
Like why the author wrote this and the outcome she wanted from the adults involved.
There's a saying when I grew up, mom would say 'wait til you have kids of your own' SO true!

One can imagine this book originated from a conversation between author, Gramps Jeffrey and his children or grandchildren. I Don't Want to Turn 3 is about Jordan who isn't excited about his upcoming third birthday. He is used to being treated like a baby and adults letting him have his way because he is so young. When he turns three, he will have to learn about rules, sharing, and responsibility. The more Jordan thinks about it, the more he is looking forward to his upcoming birthday and growing older. This is a simple story which teaches kids social skills, getting along with others, and the advantages and disadvantages to growing up and growing older. It is written from a child's point of view with an awareness that kids can be selfish and bratty at times but are also capable of learning and understanding. The illustrations are charming in a cartoonish way. Jordan is always at the center because kids often want to be the center of attention. I Don’t Want to Turn 3 is a short picture book story written by Gramps Jeffrey for young children. The story starts with Jordan who is turning 3 really soon, but he is not very excited to turn 3. In fact, he is very reluctant to turn 3 because, in his mind, Jordan is able to do anything when he is 2. Once he turns 3, his parents and everyone around him will have different expectations of him. That would suck big time! His fear of turning 3 led to a series of mischievous actions, but nobody would know, would they? Anyway, nothing bad ever happens to him when he is 2. I Don’t Want to Turn 3 is a perfect depiction of what the average family goes through with a toddler in the house. The character, Jordan, showed the struggles and dilemmas that a child regularly faces while growing up. Gramps Jeffrey has successfully captured the natural human desire and instinct that is portrayed, even from a young age, to take whatever they like and keep it for themselves. I also really liked how Gramps Jeffrey incorporated the importance of helping others in need, as well as sharing with those around us. In this book, Jeffrey explores the universal human desire to run away from problems and to be selfish, preoccupied with only their own things. Although Jordan is about to turn 3 years old, as soon as he realizes that with age comes an increased sense of responsibility, he becomes reluctant to accept it. The story skillfully narrates different ways in which our protagonist acts out in his own interests and towards the end, he is caught red handed.
